Howdy HouseBoat Fans ... Well another HB trip has come and gone. All that remains are sore muscles, bruises, memories and boats to clean up! With all that in stride, I believe most everyone had a fun time even though the wind kept our cove somewhat rough.
As for attendee demographics ... we had seven HB virgins (at least for this trip) and the rest were comprised of HB veterans. It was nice to see MaryS & SteveS join us again. For those of you not aware ... Mary & Steve met for the first time on a previous HB trip only to get married shortly thereafter. Also returning was GlenK after a few years haitus. As for our newbees ... it was great to welcome aboard GayleB, BrianB, HolliK, AprilM, JohnR, EricS and last but not least ... KurtL ... who is not stranger to HB trips but has not managed to get out of the kitchen to make one in years past. It is always nice to infuse some new blood into the trip! Thanks for joining us this year!
This Friday (Aug 09) from 6-?pm will be our post HB HH at Old MillStream Inn on Main Street. For those ofyou not familiar with the area, it is immediately north of TrailHead Brewing Company. Take I-70 West to Fifth Street North, right on Booneslick then left on Main Street. Hopefully all will have your photos ready for viewing at the HH. If you can, please provide me with an electronic copies, actual dupes or let me borrow the originals to put on the website for all to enjoy. There were sure plenty of things to take pics of ... first time skiing/wakeboarding, double moonings, Evil John's serenades, an endless fireworks show and, of course, that two tier human pyramid. The list goes on and on.
On the subject of finances, all turned out pretty good. You can view the Financial Summary by clicking on the highlighted phrase. Bottom line, everyone will be receiving a $7.45 refund ... not much but enough to buy a couple drinks at the HH. Can you believe it ... all that fun and food ... and a refund too! I will pass out the refunds at the HH. Also available at the HH will be the LOST and FOUND items.
I want to thank everyone for the compliments given to me for arranging the trip. To pull off a trip like this requires everyones' help and cooperation to make it successful, safe and an enjoyable experience. It seems like everyone contributed in one way or another but special thanks go the following people: MarkS, TomB, MikeB, JimT and yours truly for providing boats, ski equipment and waverunners. This hardware is not cheap to purchase or maintain, so extend a BIG thank you to these folks next time you see them. Without their contribution, the trip would be pretty dull! Also a BIG thanks to JeffK for that phenomenal fireworks display and kudos to his pyro team as well! And who could forget, Evil John's guitar playing and singing ... truly a treat! But wait ... what about the LarryG HB Show Ski Team of MarkS, KurtL and GayleB providing the 1st Annual pyramid ... woohoo! Last but not least, thanks to MamaG for all that food she prepared. I will have the zuchini casserole recipe with me at the HH.
Until Next Year ... which by the way will be 11-14 JUL ... a little earlier than usual but Pontiac Cove Marina is getting out of the HB business and will only have two boats next summer. They had already booked the last weekend of July and first weekend of August so I opted for the earlier date to help anyone out who has school duties.
